MAC is a brand that are truly inspiring as they have made such a name for themselves through their incredible use of branding; making them now almost a designer makeup desired by girls who are willing to pay extortionate prices for their products. They glamorise makeup in a way that other cosmetic brands do not do; and rather than using millions of images of beautiful girls looking amazing in their product they actually just sell the product as it is. The packaging and typography they use is so iconic that it is easily recognisable and they have their own unique style of photography that makes their advertising and website stand out from others. The website is simple to use but very effective and is a true representation of the store and the product which are also simple to use but have an enormous impact. MAC products always come in plain black casing or packaging with the words MAC in an easy and simple white typeface. The only colour seen is that of the product you are buying and the website is the same. No colour is used except for the colour of the product in the images. I think the website has inspired me, as with many of the other things on this blog, because it is an example of successful branding and incredible web design that works well in reflecting the brand and providing an online link that displays the company in exactly the way is should be.<br /></div></span></div>Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7441711054791611841.post-22094535407536616792009-10-03T09:49:00.000-07:002009-10-03T10:07:53.330-07:00John Baskerville<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtQCMxRIamjB-h1h2DE7yUex2ueOlkJb0mdhoT7lLvnuYYkyf4DStj6HcZPX2G4AlNuzAEE8Oc5ZLCco-CWzHFZlwoZJAgHG2dLeraRAYooruNLCa4RB3zb1ZkzWZyKQBGv8gERUosksXH/s1600-h/200px-John_Baskerville_by_James_Millar.jpg"><img style="display:block; The 2001 film is an Australian/American/British musical/romantic-drama directed by Baz Luhrmann. The film is about a young English poet who falls in love with the star cabaret actress of the Moulin Rouge in Paris. It is a beautiful story with a tragic ending that is told so perfectly through a variety of songs combined with dance, numerous set changes and an unbelievable array of spectacular costumes. It also contains well thought about topography throughout to help tell the story as if it was being written by the writer who is also narrating. The film includes actors such as Euan McGregor and Nicole Kidman and was nominated for 8 Oscars and won 2 (best art director and best costume design). It was also the first musical to be nominated for best picture in 22 years. I think this film is a masterpiece of design as it is a collaboration of the best of all design sectors and the outcome is something truly amazing that will be a much appreciated and loved film for many years to come. <br /></div></span><div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"></span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:Georgia;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizPHWNfb2V8ps-zXXlr6COf-p_Tzs4wkzNlwXZo71W0uSKKQjCrR2hCFBx0hhMwFKBkNq1xJWqNAjlDtBXjIEmYeFoKnW9SaMyp8cc76Mfvod1KjfnKrGO-rg7RSJiUPic0QgTB0UhccHH/s1600-h/moulin-rouge-end-title-screenshot.jpg"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizPHWNfb2V8ps-zXXlr6COf-p_Tzs4wkzNlwXZo71W0uSKKQjCrR2hCFBx0hhMwFKBkNq1xJWqNAjlDtBXjIEmYeFoKnW9SaMyp8cc76Mfvod1KjfnKrGO-rg7RSJiUPic0QgTB0UhccHH/s320/moulin-rouge-end-title-screenshot.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388410811253596386" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_yHqhuITgSbvV2o8z20ujQMeSB-j-JMWPhsrLONpZOfV4pPsTZ_dtiPgKnz7z1RuZaPXydLDyuJSSDyudlXEatNvZ7IfXoZ7LnF7twqUtAOUauW35ch8WlqX1w6llyJb1UcVJd37UJHnQ/s1600-h/3875_poster.jpg"></a></span><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_yHqhuITgSbvV2o8z20ujQMeSB-j-JMWPhsrLONpZOfV4pPsTZ_dtiPgKnz7z1RuZaPXydLDyuJSSDyudlXEatNvZ7IfXoZ7LnF7twqUtAOUauW35ch8WlqX1w6llyJb1UcVJd37UJHnQ/s1600-h/3875_poster.jpg"></a></span></div></div>Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7441711054791611841.post-47628308359255328612009-10-03T08:51:00.000-07:002009-10-03T09:06:31.105-07:00Cool Brands<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPhdiFOoN9Z6bsg42An_mwlMuXYnIQVu6hNmB36KQKYQNQMaR6-CFWAdSdd0Y-6CNj5mEVymzbF8eeZlyHDURkRwkB2h16ywJSv8L3dPwGlxUOTR0Tx3E2FJnyyZPltRpzxYF5kumSEpf4/s1600-h/51IRyv1ZjYL._SL500_AA240_.jpg"><img style="text-align: justify;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 240px; " src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPhdiFOoN9Z6bsg42An_mwlMuXYnIQVu6hNmB36KQKYQNQMaR6-CFWAdSdd0Y-6CNj5mEVymzbF8eeZlyHDURkRwkB2h16ywJSv8L3dPwGlxUOTR0Tx3E2FJnyyZPltRpzxYF5kumSEpf4/s320/51IRyv1ZjYL._SL500_AA240_.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388405631154454162" /></a><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms'; ">'Cool Brands - An insight into some of Britain's coolest brands' is a book by Angela Cooper that highlights what brands, from a variety of sectors, have become particularly popular and are seen as as 'cool' and discusses why. I found this book very useful as it made me think more about what is needed to build up a successful and 'cool' brand and this is a topic that I am very interested in and am thinking about doing my final self-initiated project on.</span><br /></div></span>Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7441711054791611841.post-43439606937597551942009-10-03T08:26:00.000-07:002009-10-03T09:07:13.516-07:00Conran<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqEJdpjf-RSoGshuz97D8oYBVxiQppwBdRH1qU6v_UAAa_pX9kFwelwY_tD0lOY-bTpm1uKhAQROetETyEemmlHUvdTtyRhzvKVyUl0vo_cRCPVtAtvA9_Dn-hhQPiAQ6cixU2X1nA6ppb/s1600-h/conran-shop.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 246px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqEJdpjf-RSoGshuz97D8oYBVxiQppwBdRH1qU6v_UAAa_pX9kFwelwY_tD0lOY-bTpm1uKhAQROetETyEemmlHUvdTtyRhzvKVyUl0vo_cRCPVtAtvA9_Dn-hhQPiAQ6cixU2X1nA6ppb/s320/conran-shop.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388401474857455122" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjP6rHP89qdoZpFHADk4cTNlpyszPUO7OZXN_QENLhamzFyqNxgfGOHn4dQBiC0UzgKfaK-Ke3p8lBH6a21nmvP7HpuaTL3epOBIOGWaLe-hxF4OwJayo3W3jnwjl7eVlj1v4Iel2hwKcJP/s1600-h/designed-by-conran-2_48.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 233px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjP6rHP89qdoZpFHADk4cTNlpyszPUO7OZXN_QENLhamzFyqNxgfGOHn4dQBiC0UzgKfaK-Ke3p8lBH6a21nmvP7HpuaTL3epOBIOGWaLe-hxF4OwJayo3W3jnwjl7eVlj1v4Iel2hwKcJP/s320/designed-by-conran-2_48.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388401460744038834" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf6gQhp3rv7r40-P4PK2dgjnW9kAb5W7_3qPLrMspDPU_nRpgJoAyW9sz-htcxgBEl5mmrQPG_oBUW0zkD7XRi_doaHVQIrZuKAW9ce-8tD58LFjdMvAY4ErKMcNENF8Cpp2UJ3euQ-ljU/s1600-h/9-26-conran-color-3.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 213px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf6gQhp3rv7r40-P4PK2dgjnW9kAb5W7_3qPLrMspDPU_nRpgJoAyW9sz-htcxgBEl5mmrQPG_oBUW0zkD7XRi_doaHVQIrZuKAW9ce-8tD58LFjdMvAY4ErKMcNENF8Cpp2UJ3euQ-ljU/s320/9-26-conran-color-3.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388401456162017490" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqt_7k0MoVoXeUkSn8_9_PRU_JuredThXoinrABG81OhqSmcyn_wHDO5TM5PK-hlR1PHC75VGdw7_M11q9CeNqOn3TvYGUUoSLQGhk5CceadlkcXqUk_8rSDSo0ejFPqLUIB71jGfjNpN7/s1600-h/MezzoBar_1.jpg"><img style="text-align: justify;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 305px; " src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqt_7k0MoVoXeUkSn8_9_PRU_JuredThXoinrABG81OhqSmcyn_wHDO5TM5PK-hlR1PHC75VGdw7_M11q9CeNqOn3TvYGUUoSLQGhk5CceadlkcXqUk_8rSDSo0ejFPqLUIB71jGfjNpN7/s320/MezzoBar_1.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388401454559298082" /></a><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpY4NoHv9THmaEGiqs967S5sArX03E078P2qMORrV4j-VkO6j5z8elHdAyv7vnKiuUJyWBEL_AF_MPNmwUb4KQRZylad4tJhMfrcTPtNAPVZAFnTTtxcyMVTYFWY0upLzObnMPxug4SzcS/s1600-h/mezzo.jpg"><img style="text-align: justify;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 205px; " src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpY4NoHv9THmaEGiqs967S5sArX03E078P2qMORrV4j-VkO6j5z8elHdAyv7vnKiuUJyWBEL_AF_MPNmwUb4KQRZylad4tJhMfrcTPtNAPVZAFnTTtxcyMVTYFWY0upLzObnMPxug4SzcS/s320/mezzo.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388401450024867986" /></a><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms'; ">It is no surprise really that Terence Conran would have an incredible website, but after going online recently to try and book dinner at the his restaurant (the bluebird), I was very impressed at just how easy the website was to use; and yet how impressive and sophisticated it still managed to look. www.conran.com is the official website which provides links to all of Conran's different fields, which could potentially make it a very confusing and hectic as the website needs to contain so much information. Yet this website, in true Conran style simplifies everything into neat categories in a perfectly stylish graphic format. The website is true to the nature of Conran and is a representation of the stores, products and restaurants that Conran is trying to promote through it. Sir Terence Conran (born in 1931) is an English designer, restauranteur, retailer and writer who is a great inspiration to all young designers as he is a man who has been upmost successful in his career and it was his mind as a designer and talent for creating a brand that lead to this success. Take a look at his website as it not only is an impressive piece of web design with a sophisticated layout but also allows you to look at the Conran brand as a whole. It allows you to look at the products he sells in his stores, the design of the stores themselves, the restaurant interiors and his writing and design studios. </span><br /></div></span>Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7441711054791611841.post-32825363270275377722009-10-03T07:42:00.000-07:002009-10-03T09:06:54.673-07:00Alan Fletcher<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5ck8JMzLlWpSs_Bh3P7WR06GsY1S3HkSiy2zHFOZlXA4gcUwPo_YP6lNycm6u9HpNBTAhqSZa4ki8j_UgFlCXtbJlKmbgWu8lfMTds2ULEwMrSfFO6lizLJCMZfrC9KgYxGjwD7wy-EwV/s1600-h/381554684_163363e8b6.jpg"><img style="display:block; which unfortunately was shown just before his death later that year. I have always felt that Alan Fletcher brought such beauty and amazing wit to graphic design and truly deserves the well respected reputation that he came receive. Some of his most famous works include the logo for the V&A museum which was an incredible work of typography showing his amazing craftsmanship. Alan Fletcher originally studied at the Royal College of Art in the 1950s and was foremost a painter and artist. It was due to his style of simplify forms that he created a unique identity for himself in the graphic sector and became known as the master of the visual pun. His work often contains ironic humor and he has created numerous iconic pieces that have shaped the world of graphic design that we have today. The design museum has made part of their website about Fletcher in his memory and it is worth taking a look at: http://designmuseum.org/design/alan-fletcher.<br /></div></span>Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7441711054791611841.post-91869792217650398852009-10-03T07:17:00.000-07:002009-10-03T07:38:56.947-07:00Flashdance<div><br /></div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC8RUoI67GMW9oHKS7s9xVBRO06Se2MtghWJe1SZDwvk5k5hlLSCNd5ESEGP5aO4kdRYYdWX5I0E3760gDAMGYJKqxM3pecI2IkR0rHyR0J7s5Vmg3XMeKzUPOKlts7vJ2GUsMm7bf9NGZ/s320/225px-Flashdanceposter.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388382891317133666" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 213px; height: 320px; " /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYxrr6sfE2ka9d50e4sITl0IgmQRYurvplJGGjD56R1QK6lznQd3zJyeCCD-Jyj-_G53Xli8pXCE7NxmXCGmZuP2Sjk22CJURnSTlwdZV9l2quzLPoWTEDRjTgRHHESYDeBhH03nC0MuLy/s1600-h/flashdance_b.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 228px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYxrr6sfE2ka9d50e4sITl0IgmQRYurvplJGGjD56R1QK6lznQd3zJyeCCD-Jyj-_G53Xli8pXCE7NxmXCGmZuP2Sjk22CJURnSTlwdZV9l2quzLPoWTEDRjTgRHHESYDeBhH03nC0MuLy/s320/flashdance_b.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388382921521456226" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhg7QKgHJs4gWbOCsVvNclpJcMVGrFRR6eoM9JlTHzTWhuYm28t4bTUzbiF-abLr4tm9WSbiTjUcfrA-FSmpDAuZ_TyEa-4hOgPX6IS8V0-cQyfXuLQbUEKDYiwQwunMo3LcJQ6Q4LdfXD4/s1600-h/flashdance.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhg7QKgHJs4gWbOCsVvNclpJcMVGrFRR6eoM9JlTHzTWhuYm28t4bTUzbiF-abLr4tm9WSbiTjUcfrA-FSmpDAuZ_TyEa-4hOgPX6IS8V0-cQyfXuLQbUEKDYiwQwunMo3LcJQ6Q4LdfXD4/s320/flashdance.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388382905978418114" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi83ioqxRfr4riV6Z5xKW3iNAWJOave__1G3FIJq2z53c9-AKxRoy5je7ZJAJflfmTQmWbk-AGEMeP0-KVapmhkA0OfQYyrz9PQME5mpM_0Eik7Q20YjMkKG_wkWv0ugIjH_8KE9GnkMA2s/s1600-h/flashdance10245qz.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 262px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi83ioqxRfr4riV6Z5xKW3iNAWJOave__1G3FIJq2z53c9-AKxRoy5je7ZJAJflfmTQmWbk-AGEMeP0-KVapmhkA0OfQYyrz9PQME5mpM_0Eik7Q20YjMkKG_wkWv0ugIjH_8KE9GnkMA2s/s320/flashdance10245qz.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388382903866850402" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJVioSp85a-o8d9JBHEZDrvK8DzduL6kIRz5Fub_wC4O-ZIou4itoRHMXSY3GR7qYQjr_XB7ROV090ArWk37OYOtw78aFnfNvmjIFnPOar5H1zklOuLsMm2jKJvsRnGkiUgr0uOXlVt_yA/s1600-h/flashdance_1.jpg"><img style="text-align: justify;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px; " src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJVioSp85a-o8d9JBHEZDrvK8DzduL6kIRz5Fub_wC4O-ZIou4itoRHMXSY3GR7qYQjr_XB7ROV090ArWk37OYOtw78aFnfNvmjIFnPOar5H1zklOuLsMm2jKJvsRnGkiUgr0uOXlVt_yA/s320/flashdance_1.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388382894842892834" /></a><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms';"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';"><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Flashdance has always been one of my favourite films. It was released in 1983 and was the first collaboration of the producers Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer. Many of the sequences are filmed in the style of music videos of the time and this film became a huge influence on other 1980s films such as Top Gun (which became Simpson and Bruckheimer's most famous movie). When Flashdance was first released it gained very bad reviews from film critics, however was incredibly popular with the public and became the third highest grossing film of 1983 in the USA and earned worldwide over $100 million. I think the reason for the success of this film was the glamour that became associated with dancing and the unbelievable soundtrack that is still being played and loved by girls all over the world today. The soundtrack included songs such as 'Maniac' by Michael Sembello and 'What a feeling' by Irene Cara. Again, as with other films I have spoken about in this blog I think it is the set, the makeup and costume design and the lighting and creation of atmosphere that made me find it so interesting. It is an inspirational film because it is such a simple story line, with such a simple set and the film cost very little to produce; however the way it has been put together (lighting, music etc) makes it a very emotional film that has a real feel good factor about it. </span><br /></div></span>Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7441711054791611841.post-90847798054530363882009-10-01T09:50:00.000-07:002009-10-03T07:40:32.659-07:00Luxury Fashion Branding<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-Ro5Pc_aARWwiCfZuIweFGczoFJWAaLMlrMvlpGP5VbEnbHQCXlWGBKA0KoZOhhaneX72Eafd1aZp4-FLco1ODSk_JPqc_lpdf3Zu8dhzddQugGnmVu3pfpTCr8C4cjzQ9uNuYOaCVYf5/s1600-h/18363249%5B1%5D.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5387679319468549490" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 185px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 276px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-Ro5Pc_aARWwiCfZuIweFGczoFJWAaLMlrMvlpGP5VbEnbHQCXlWGBKA0KoZOhhaneX72Eafd1aZp4-FLco1ODSk_JPqc_lpdf3Zu8dhzddQugGnmVu3pfpTCr8C4cjzQ9uNuYOaCVYf5/s320/18363249%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" /></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;"><br /></span><div align="justify"><span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms';"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">I read this book by Uche Okonkwo after visiting Agent Provocateur because I had become very interested in what it was about luxury fashion brands that made people obsess over something as small and realistically insignificant as underwear, or a pair of shoes, or a handbag. This book critically analyses the essential aspects of fashion branding and allows you to understand the business strategy and the mind behind these successful companies. It is all about getting into the mind of the consumer and how humans are psychologically effected by these items. It looks at the way these companies portray their clothes (which are often not different in quality to the clothes in a high street store) to make the buyer feel that they are investing into more than just an item of clothing but into a brand and therefore a way of living. It is a very interesting read if you are interested in branding and is written by a very intelligent writer with an MBA from Brunel University, London and a Phd from ESC Rennes School of Business, France so you can be assured that what you are reading is coming from a woman with a great amount of experience in this sector and a good business orientated mind.</span></span></span></div>Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7441711054791611841.post-92169172841350570652009-10-01T08:56:00.000-07:002009-10-03T07:40:56.886-07:00Agent Provocateur<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvIj9TF96pwYjnIzVAaY57ZgDMx-Yxlvb4Fo4XH2QSFCg9N7WpH9jGek4DjwcIrJAfUivoZ_tyNsp5mMeARKjKXQ9IkQp_G9S8G7ufFyCRRoJahsW742xxMhT5f4frNdsff5wv7lHJ5Lta/s1600-h/2830207389_a05927c1cb%5B1%5D.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5387674653848135490" style="DISPLAY: block; It was founded by Joseph Corre (the son of Vivienne Westwood) and Serena Rees. I have always been intrigued as to what it was about this brand that made it seem ok to spend £150 on something that is essentially an undergarment. After visiting the store I realised that it was not so much the actual item of clothing that made it special to receive, but the fact that the company has so cleverly branded itself that purchasing underwear from their store became more of an exciting experience than a necessity. In fact I think the underwear itself is more of a souvenir that you will keep as a memory of the time you spent buying it and something you will probably hardly ever wear. The reason for my thinking of this is that the store itself is so enchanting; it is a shop unlike any other where you are spoilt by both the shop assistants and the luxury of the interior. Everything is so over adorned and you feel special being there because it is not the kind of place that you could go ordinarily and usually buying something as mundane as underwear is a quick and easy process that takes place in Marks and Spencers. Agent Provocateur has been so successful that it now has stores in 13 countries around the world and their underwear has been purchased and modeled by numerous A list celebs; including Kylie Minogue, Kate Moss and Paris Hilton. The shops originally sold very plain styles of underwear that were always enhanced by the stores unique style of individualism, it was in fact similar to the Vivienne Westwood store SEX on the Kings Road. I found the store to be an inspiration as it made me think about how creating an aura and atmosphere around a brand could lead to something being so much more successful and sought after than another similar product. I am interested in branding and fashion identities and I think this store truly epitomises how much successful branding can really do for a company.</span></span></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7441711054791611841.post-39593707885601694602009-09-30T09:54:00.001-07:002009-10-03T07:41:25.054-07:00Design Boom<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipLhrw0ZQM3t-9vh0rphC1Qv8VqIjJTZa1abBDybkhyphenhyphenv6iY3IarnsDpbnYHTHza9EUrLNK4lNevOD-Cgbgr-Y4DfEjcyFGalx1h1EKuz3QL1OBnibpiuzclYlJVsgk9yNI3ZFweDKs-SHh/s1600-h/evian04%5B1%5D.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5387641033641262674" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 122px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipLhrw0ZQM3t-9vh0rphC1Qv8VqIjJTZa1abBDybkhyphenhyphenv6iY3IarnsDpbnYHTHza9EUrLNK4lNevOD-Cgbgr-Y4DfEjcyFGalx1h1EKuz3QL1OBnibpiuzclYlJVsgk9yNI3ZFweDKs-SHh/s320/evian04%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5387641024856163346" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 233px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1Zyck5rocY-b8V7n2y0kCkJG1yYMO_l4VehuFWLnZHt5ImKwfOfm3SOlOlZw9GdNodyFxRXFSbPVts6yV9DgK6HgraVCD450z6nftEtIinvrs5A-51bpB4B-tkyxETykrETDVSFGE-a_u/s320/clight01%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" /> <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5387641221817159426" style="text-align: justify;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; width: 240px; height: 320px; " alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl39BTqKRnWoBIzX0hefXIu9PAm_HiE8A3mlunIfZtZeWbG004Zg_xw0pDIjAqihI7myIqNH07ygUnLxHQiu4f_DPEVg3LYI1P7Xhhv2iCO8FgGnkTxgC5LkaUSs4ZDZmF1gl1tpPzj04Y/s320/redring12%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" /><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">This is another very interesting website full of the most up to date works of design from all over the world. It does not give such detailed descriptions or analytical views and opinions as the website I spoke about previously 'World Famous Design Junkies'; but is instead more of a daily update of images that speak for themselves allowing you to remain aware of what is going on around the world, because there are some things that you might, otherwise, not see. On the website there are also sections where you can read interviews with designers, competitions where you can get involved and submit your own design work, sections about design history and ideas for the design future. I think it is a website that all design students should definitely follow as it is always full of new and exciting design pieces and ideas that can inspire your work. There is a section entitled 'Daily Coverage' and today on that there are images of the new Paul Smith water bottles, images of the helix wind to power cell phone towers in the USA and Africa, a poster called 'be nice to a girl, by her a ring' by Ted Noten, images of 110 watt lightbults designed in the shapes of wine glasses and a looking glass carafe designed by Sebastian Bergne. Take a look at www.designboom.com/eng.</span></span></div></div></div>Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7441711054791611841.post-8553717048849656352009-09-30T09:32:00.000-07:002009-10-03T07:39:44.251-07:00Miles Aldridge<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-C6AHXAuvZe_1_JFe9IMKmqBSQDvy_VFuh6WGGd5LY0DJqVxvQPJimNeXlIT69wv0GT-pBvOCeYOFhJJyU7692Yaf4X2pKKpXVRLtfUH69Fpp9Ox1r8Tnf4Xx31wxZ9ZFD-pSW1XqylG1/s1600-h/news_7461_3%5B1%5D.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5387640094269990610" style="DISPLAY: block; ">Miles Aldridge is one of Britain's most famous and most talented fashion photographers. I absolutely love his work and admire his ability to capture an entire environment through his use of photography and choice of models and colour. Everything about his work is exciting and often very provocative, which makes him stand out and allows him to be much more free with his work. He has worked with many famous designers and has done many incredible photos of couture ranges; he has also often combined nudity with fashion to juxtapose the ideas of what is being hidden by the clothes and what statement the clothes make alone. I think the fact that much of his work is so outrageous is what really appeals to me and the way he is able to create a mood that shows the clothes in such different ways in each photograph is unbelievable. When observing his work I think about so much more than just the clothes but how much effort has been put into the image as a whole; I am very interested in settings and placement of objects and models when they are being photographed and think that he is such an expert at this which is why I find his work so inspirational. If you are at all interested in fashion photography, or even just photography then his website is definitely worth taking a look at: www.mylesaldridge.com</span><br /></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7441711054791611841.post-90411249712970993062009-09-30T09:07:00.000-07:002009-09-30T09:26:32.819-07:0020 Years of Style<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhteGPeyfzUkvT52N_8DMjWK2K2Kl28rLXS236DWiRT9F35fDDfE4GoGdY5Ah1QLMtNFsf_sPO19vNaUNvdUzRWVgdJ_4k6N3qWHKFs6HCfx5LCeuL2lqBQ66bUb4BdVDIlrme-Y-086jcP/s1600-h/9780060723026.jpg"><img style="text-align: justify;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; cursor: pointer; width: 254px; height: 320px; " src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhteGPeyfzUkvT52N_8DMjWK2K2Kl28rLXS236DWiRT9F35fDDfE4GoGdY5Ah1QLMtNFsf_sPO19vNaUNvdUzRWVgdJ_4k6N3qWHKFs6HCfx5LCeuL2lqBQ66bUb4BdVDIlrme-Y-086jcP/s320/9780060723026.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5387297569824099858" /></a><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';"><div style="text-align: justify;">This book by Kim Hastreiter and David Hershkovits kept me fully involved from cover to cover. This is not just because I love fashion but also because of the other features of design that the book contains. It is written by the co-editors of paper magazine and so you know you are getting words written by two of the most experienced editors in the design world. It is a book for anybody who is interested in where style starts, and i do not necessarily mean style in the sense of fashion because the book looks into the life and times of the last twenty years in all aspects and how each aspect of design and culture has inspired another. It talks of the huge influence of underground cultures of art, music, film, sports and urban street and how these have effected fashion. It is laid out chronologically starting in 1984 and going up to the present day. It is filled with exciting images which I found to be the most interesting part, as this allows you to see the way that not only the clothes have changed by also the photography, the layouts of the images and the fashion advertising and photography. It is packed full of images of celebrities outfits and is a very glamourous book that shows the change in design through a variety of forms over the last twenty years. I found it inspiring as the more I read the more I realised that with a degree such as graphic design you are so free to be influenced by all aspects of the design world and that I will be able to incorporate all of my interests into my final self initiated project.<br /></div></span>Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7441711054791611841.post-19812552203272842932009-09-30T08:49:00.000-07:002009-09-30T09:07:14.549-07:00Blow<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5zfz_b11p-tSiwZzs-tBRk1wkDWtMY06iqmHNnlclLyUgMC2zAXymxmmd2e68i6fVVARqBs61e-2ijbYRljMVI1EDDusBI2xQjkstuz_-JMVC00QG1c4gqZrtDb8RUik4kG0KDgOEXn1r/s1600-h/200px-Blow_poster.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 265px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5zfz_b11p-tSiwZzs-tBRk1wkDWtMY06iqmHNnlclLyUgMC2zAXymxmmd2e68i6fVVARqBs61e-2ijbYRljMVI1EDDusBI2xQjkstuz_-JMVC00QG1c4gqZrtDb8RUik4kG0KDgOEXn1r/s320/200px-Blow_poster.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5387291899637224818" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQxAdlrtHqFmU_yvOkN3h_oLudJUnFt3D1r7mXiQ-rmLrJGsSDHEj32uBL0bf3jy3zFmZuFc6EcV9mo0ySd0CFxhhyphenhyphenU1xbHh_RlaTh-e02xhJ6_b-BVEb8Q8LRKNFyNBujYKepW4ZDMYbA/s1600-h/1341971_f520.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 237px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQxAdlrtHqFmU_yvOkN3h_oLudJUnFt3D1r7mXiQ-rmLrJGsSDHEj32uBL0bf3jy3zFmZuFc6EcV9mo0ySd0CFxhhyphenhyphenU1xbHh_RlaTh-e02xhJ6_b-BVEb8Q8LRKNFyNBujYKepW4ZDMYbA/s320/1341971_f520.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5387291894802569202" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';"><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:13px;">This is one of my all time favourite film, mainly because I love to watch films that are based on real life and this film is based on a true story about the life of George Jung. I realise that on this blog I have written mainly about films that include Jonny Depp; but I think this is because he is such an incredible actor that he only choses the most interesting and challenging films to be in because he strives to play the most intense and bizarre variety of characters. Blow was directed by Ted Demme and was originally a book written by Bruce Porter entitled 'How a small town boy made $100 million with the Medellin Cocaine Cartel and lost it all.' The screenplay was written by David McKenna and the film was released in 2001. Blow has been compared by critics to films such as: Scarface, Boogie Nights and Goodfellas and is such an amazing film because it tells the story of a drug smuggler without placing any sort of moral judgement upon the character. It leaves you feeling unsure of what your opinion of George Jung is because you get to see his life story and although you are completely aware of how morally wrong what he is doing actually is, you can't help but love the character and feel sympathetic of him when it all goes wrong towards the end. The way the film is directed is very inspirational as you gain such an all round idea of the characters life in such a short space of time and become very attached. I think the way this is done is so clever as the director has managed to get into the minds and hearts of the audience, which is a technique that could be used in advertising and all aspects of design to engross the target audience and make them intrigued by what they are seeing.</span><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 48px;"><br /></span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:Georgia;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheS5DhR01qIi_AOPSLJalwwgyBX280CTNis8OXOiDVP-M3GpFL0rA9peLQ3aq2kuTsMq1hIwLzArixqofCrYRRgCtuwvDLK06YHA4V5mIzbsGUCby4D2UGdtUvME_2eaODuo2v76dO3PFX/s1600-h/blow.jpg"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheS5DhR01qIi_AOPSLJalwwgyBX280CTNis8OXOiDVP-M3GpFL0rA9peLQ3aq2kuTsMq1hIwLzArixqofCrYRRgCtuwvDLK06YHA4V5mIzbsGUCby4D2UGdtUvME_2eaODuo2v76dO3PFX/s320/blow.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5387291889491733442" style="display: block; It has all the latest new and totally bizarre works from all over the world. Most of the posts are written by Chris Burns who seems to have a real flair and passion for discovering and researching the most outrageous and up to date design manifestations and he comments himself on what he thinks of the work and asks others to comment too. Most recently he has written about 'The Big Golden Farting Bull' and some stickers he found which he entitled 'Stickery Peeltastic' he has also shared his views on the Rubix cube and created a post called the 'One Single Cubular'. It is almost a design blog similar to our own and it has been inspiring for me to read and see just how many different sources he uses to find work that inspires him and that he is interested in. Take a look at this website if you are ever in need of some new design works to inspire you thoughts; www.worldfamousdesignjunkies.com </span></span>Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7441711054791611841.post-42459840456069626932009-09-30T08:25:00.000-07:002009-09-30T08:33:48.794-07:00Iain Crawford<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxkk503oGASOeU5YDWIQlXAas_FJI7IfR7sVQSVlCCMPYLOJ5alPrIeN2FQBPGdcM7uL_Jg56T7gmwl6vFjrS3JqipjQ0WDsw0gbnUBb5BNSDt70FDV7UIfrJqtoQplMhAdo6480ZYxvW5/s1600-h/picture-211-500x331.png"><img style="display:block; It is all about temporal fashion that goes out of style in an instant as there are no actual clothes involved; instead the models are wearing the paint and therefore they can only be seen to be wearing this fluid motion of colour by the pure skill of the photography. Iain Crawford is a very inspiring photographer as he always creates work that is different and exciting. His ideas are ambitious and it is only because he is so talented that he is able to pull them off so well. I love his use of colour in his work and the way that he directs his models so that nothing else is needed to create a mood or setting. I would love to try and work in this way to test my own photography skills and create work that can advertise fashion in a way that is new and original.</span></span><br /></div>Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7441711054791611841.post-43730568072200446092009-09-28T09:26:00.000-07:002009-09-28T10:07:57.330-07:00The ɪncredibles<div align="justify"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQy3T7LG0I1L9J1K2ZQKfOVhUMfKU_aSBhSqd1kvauqZ11Uni-CjRMSDVseBMKwoe-YMia4w06PQn_Om5-bAioJr0VrhMGU0Qkc4NNkEhbNa2QXaaKbyd8AhRswN_cmePaIClsZbrAsg-H/s1600-h/2lsgv1z%5B1%5D.jpg"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386565534268366434" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 216px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQy3T7LG0I1L9J1K2ZQKfOVhUMfKU_aSBhSqd1kvauqZ11Uni-CjRMSDVseBMKwoe-YMia4w06PQn_Om5-bAioJr0VrhMGU0Qkc4NNkEhbNa2QXaaKbyd8AhRswN_cmePaIClsZbrAsg-H/s320/2lsgv1z%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" /></span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><br /></span><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEje8Oih5chZDOsjqIz4rpCmcB7NXw4rr-lfYAvVw4tVDvOV2_P5om8ONaxbfT-y008XrLJ-LmxvMqWfuBXuzglDJVtKlr8S5fDBuEg8XvmvzPT40okiY2wny8WJRl-ixWu7BkguQAH4Qjjb/s1600-h/the_incredibles%5B1%5D.jpg"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386565344044132578" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 249px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEje8Oih5chZDOsjqIz4rpCmcB7NXw4rr-lfYAvVw4tVDvOV2_P5om8ONaxbfT-y008XrLJ-LmxvMqWfuBXuzglDJVtKlr8S5fDBuEg8XvmvzPT40okiY2wny8WJRl-ixWu7BkguQAH4Qjjb/s320/the_incredibles%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" /></span></a><br /><div><div><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386564823034659506" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 256px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS0A061n-1rNoZSNx3FXRmtLU62hKADU878O_-dSBTCXPgSQM7XFxrsDn-MTAne3TdAS7gSYRnE8W6ZQ52zXpTMPj9l8lW-ZCDy8VuOWoqYeovHMFDY0zYhyO7IdrKLdYMJu7fQOz9hg6g/s320/The-Incredibles---Dash-Disney-134535%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" />ɪ recently watched The ɪ<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">ncredibles</span>, which is a 2004 computed-animated superhero film created by <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Pixar</span> Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures. It is a collection of ten international installation artist's works and the idea behind it is that the artists are expressing what is going on in their heads when they are going through the creative processes and how they are thinking and feeling. It unifies process and product which I thought was very relevant for us as students right now because what we are trying to do through this blog is gather and understand all of our creative thoughts and ideas that have inspired us and eventually conclude by developing a physical final project. It made me think about what thoughts and creative processes are going on in my head and how I could express them, what are my weaknesses and strengths? what to I think I will be able to research and develop well as a project? and what am I most interested in? Despite there being ten artists work displayed in this exhibition including; Bo Christian Larsson from Sweden, Dutch Mark Manders, Yayoi Kusama, Keith Tyson (Turner Prize Winner), and the American Jason Rhoades; it was in fact the work of only two artists that particularly interested me because both of their works were so interactive. The first was a piece entitled 'Caveman' by Thomas Hirschhorn and the second was entitled 'Spotted Landscape' by Japanese Chiharu Shiota. Shiota had created a red room filled with white spots, that were reflected in mirrors and that covered large shapes which filled the space. Spots are the artist's signature statement as she uses them to represent her schizophrenia that has inevitably had a major impact on her life. I felt fully involved in her piece especially as it spread to places outside the gallery (including on the room and the trees that lead up to the building). This was her first installation piece to be exhibited in London and I think she has definitely made herself know through her exciting work that caused a hype in the area. In the same way that the giant chess board in Trafalgar square caused a stir i think this did too as it caused people to become intrigued; this is an idea that i will definitely be thinking about using in advertising work in the future.</span></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7441711054791611841.post-45709712447358115832009-09-28T07:43:00.000-07:002009-09-28T08:33:14.850-07:00Be Frassy<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlKEfzHhVNUounPAO4_Mg4I62mDi4ou_WVPK_gtgKmCM74YqrAdQClqIx6kBvtgq8iOhrTzpUyG3aanSGjfjtzo6zcAPQ9_1_n3GmNl145y7-MhWl1LuH3z2bO2-N147VqyOMMwFbXdyJ9/s1600-h/DSCF2408%5B1%5D.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386539961141771794" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlKEfzHhVNUounPAO4_Mg4I62mDi4ou_WVPK_gtgKmCM74YqrAdQClqIx6kBvtgq8iOhrTzpUyG3aanSGjfjtzo6zcAPQ9_1_n3GmNl145y7-MhWl1LuH3z2bO2-N147VqyOMMwFbXdyJ9/s320/DSCF2408%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjylXtKz3WYOUz1bhdakOAxdMlGmci1RRzkqo9TiYrxVMV49FWgkOd4djOZvTyMltUm3rccAob0PJlkXopx2oGtq7fra_n-EMDjWx6KHe-gIJrOP1RbJIPcATgU9slvT2hhkNHkJ6pCZaKg/s1600-h/zzzzedgeeee%5B1%5D.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386539773481169090" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 195px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 220px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjylXtKz3WYOUz1bhdakOAxdMlGmci1RRzkqo9TiYrxVMV49FWgkOd4djOZvTyMltUm3rccAob0PJlkXopx2oGtq7fra_n-EMDjWx6KHe-gIJrOP1RbJIPcATgU9slvT2hhkNHkJ6pCZaKg/s320/zzzzedgeeee%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386540040840148354" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 295px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrOpIy-l4McF1EAdsmfOEEkOJupKUuiu19V9jFJWI4So4j-ixmUBBvdR5kBMRuJZmE6Eq3GKiKj4-k-zFPmfrnphN2sPEtCIgMs-k-1P5LVn7NaRPHcn-BHRm3oXILkTg4iSNAqe3_9ofy/s320/DSCF2566%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" /><br /></span><div><div align="justify"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">A friend of mine from Durham University recently mentioned to me when I was discussing my blog that somebody he knew from university had recently created a very sucessful fashion blog titled BeFrassy. Her blog has been so sucessful that she has been able to gain access to numerous fashion shows and has been able to meet many of her idols who are well respected in the fashion world. Frassy sees herself as a stylist and her blog is about what she thinks about the latest fashion crazes and her advice on how to put items of clothing together. She also keeps you updated with where she has been, who she has met and what she has been wearing herself, as well as talkinɡ about which celebrities inspire her and askinɡ for readers imput on whether they like her ideas. ɪ found her bloɡ very inspiring as it was interesting to see how involved people can get with blogging their lives and how a blog can really take off and have such an impact on her career. She now has created an extension of her blog where you can buy vintage finds from her and where she is selling clothes that she has designed herself. Her blog made me think about how useful the internet can be and how by putting your ideas and thoughts out there for people to see you are able to recieve more feedback and expand your knowledge than you could even imagine. BeFrassy has made me want to look more into web design and blogging and think about how when creating something like this you need to be completely individual to make it stand out and be a success. I think that the way Frassy is putting her work and herself out there for the public to see is exciting and she deserves the success she is recieving. It was the work of the Spanish designer Jamie Hayon called “The Tournament” and the idea behind the piece was to recreate (in a different light) a representation of the battle of Trafalgar. Whilst the piece was up the public were encouraged to pause in the square and play one another; I found the way that this was interactive particularly interesting as I thought about the Outdoor advertising project we did last year and how an interactive advertising stunt in a location such as this one could be very successful. The actual technical design of the chessboard pieces were also exquisite and each piece was up to 2m tall which made it quite a substantial feature of design in such a central London location. I found this design work very exciting, as this designer is apparently very famous for his eccentric work; however, I think this was his way of making himself known in the UK and he was definitely successful in causing a stir in London which is an inspiration to me as this is what we aim to do through design work, particularly advertising which is what interests me the most.</span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms'; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16px; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh20OqfJiG4M3hUy9yCZsfWSlRst4ju-CvPhyphenhyphenT_ZhO5FBd5hNtOY-jDA8G9DEV0FfMgMfrDzzVo85MYBh7mGVngEhpncRWrweO47OfWtT5oITIMGXZvCYqZCL7-igg449iU9WjMs9gSTJ4Z/s320/6a00d83451cbb069e20120a5aa10fd970c-800wi.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386245084397484114" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 320px; " /></span></span></p> <!--EndFragment-->Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7441711054791611841.post-5037304110612711382009-09-27T13:01:00.000-07:002009-09-27T13:08:36.953-07:00Hoover Building<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm3TASpwYi8xvPOYompuWL57yCNk_Dly7ZzvTvk-Cc4NkyeIFkylEmj1RoBXnDYxk3uZf59sReGGsTSIrOdeF5Q8Nl9HcDae4Z5FSyopcQkp_yAhN6q5C3pqRGpb2O4jexGueV5xyjDmQ4/s1600-h/Hoover_Building.jpg"><img style="text-align: justify;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 209px; " src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm3TASpwYi8xvPOYompuWL57yCNk_Dly7ZzvTvk-Cc4NkyeIFkylEmj1RoBXnDYxk3uZf59sReGGsTSIrOdeF5Q8Nl9HcDae4Z5FSyopcQkp_yAhN6q5C3pqRGpb2O4jexGueV5xyjDmQ4/s320/Hoover_Building.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386241189487418370" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';"><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div></span><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZCzj4PqmtPyBb47Z7XWURe4j47WtzEw21E4Ez_vm2lwDvohB7L5KZN3Y6HKgWSzx6e5Z7Q_pVlW2rJKZA0jcWZyfoNU8QBP2Tgk6T2QJIAd8mlrcACJ4gI5g5E3xnJD5zwKvqrOMFrCKS/s1600-h/800px-HooverBuildingTescoEntrance.jpg"><img style="text-align: justify;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 217px; " src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZCzj4PqmtPyBb47Z7XWURe4j47WtzEw21E4Ez_vm2lwDvohB7L5KZN3Y6HKgWSzx6e5Z7Q_pVlW2rJKZA0jcWZyfoNU8QBP2Tgk6T2QJIAd8mlrcACJ4gI5g5E3xnJD5zwKvqrOMFrCKS/s320/800px-HooverBuildingTescoEntrance.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386241188161399250" /></a><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';">The Hoover building is a piece of Art Deco Architecture designed by Wallis, Gilbert and Partners. It was built for the Hoover Company and containing offices and a large canteen. During World War II it was used to manufacture electrical equipment for aircrafts and tanks because it is such a large building on the way out of London. The Hoover building is listed and was bought by Tesco in 1989; Tesco worked with English Heritage to construct the site to the strict regulations that were required to protect the ornate outside. Tesco also included in its interior lots of mirrors and fan windows that are in keeping with the art deco theme of the front of the building. It is celebrated in the song ‘Hoover Factory’ by Elvis Costello and had for a long time been a building that I have driven past on my way in and out of London; and because I have always been interested in Art Deco architecture and interiors I decided I would go and have a closer look at it. I think the Hoover building is quite incredible as it stands alone and is so dramatic in size that it is almost impossible not to notice it; however, I still find it a very unattractive piece of architecture. This made me think about how quick design is to change and that is why I find this building so interesting as it is a piece of design history, conserved as more of an art work now than a building that is aesthetically pleasing.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg80sOitnGdM_UB8hZ8bLCzDzlTLaEComv-piRtlIq6HntU-E1L5nzyKP2bvIRRQp7qzNawxMudZ6TIOtQvky6RZNh-mxcAlfBYRTLRZN1lHS8J2-DfgYcmAIzRUJq8paqUCi9_OBMQrYzk/s320/image.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386241183199026306" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 136px; " /></p> <!--EndFragment-->Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7441711054791611841.post-35782923500712815152009-09-24T06:41:00.000-07:002009-09-24T07:33:20.913-07:00Whatever you think, think the Opposite.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0gRJqT85THCfcscZN1dvBl-AHIMtP7lhIKKdC4kDVqSuAiAOGSCZE3HBeMFU5XkClnfEe9MdJqzdhBaXv0Q4GA39wuRNG7t9RIxuqIF4viRDCWH5cgs6vTmqUZxeXGO-Itq2Q8UBR71Vk/s1600-h/51aZMXNohXL._SL500_AA240_.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0gRJqT85THCfcscZN1dvBl-AHIMtP7lhIKKdC4kDVqSuAiAOGSCZE3HBeMFU5XkClnfEe9MdJqzdhBaXv0Q4GA39wuRNG7t9RIxuqIF4viRDCWH5cgs6vTmqUZxeXGO-Itq2Q8UBR71Vk/s320/51aZMXNohXL._SL500_AA240_.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5385041159122781954" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBQub-4Z7eavrIY2sjvvAqXbxFXg7bdb490YxrROTWzZ4eTAw-bNDcyBORlA5NhnGb4NyogCZm79T_pse9sJQLT_KUqdbR8QlsxMx5UcuaYTPNhddrs5gs55KabZnpivbC5WQfISaFgH9B/s1600-h/whatever_2.jpg"><img style="text-align: justify;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 271px; " src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBQub-4Z7eavrIY2sjvvAqXbxFXg7bdb490YxrROTWzZ4eTAw-bNDcyBORlA5NhnGb4NyogCZm79T_pse9sJQLT_KUqdbR8QlsxMx5UcuaYTPNhddrs5gs55KabZnpivbC5WQfISaFgH9B/s320/whatever_2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5385041146853471698" /></a><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">"Whatever you think, think the opposite" by Paul Arden is a 'self help book for creative minds seeking inspiration.' It is a simply designed book filled with a vast array of graphic design works that stand out from many things you have seen before because they are so different. The idea behind the book is to inspire designers to create work that is completely original by thinking about alternative ways of portraying the message you are trying to express. It turns everyday ideas on their heads and is an inspiration to anybody who is lost for new ideas because it really does give you something to think about. The author, Paul Arden, used to be the creative director for Saatchi and Saatchi and during this time was responsible for some of Britain's most successful advertising projects; so you know that what the advice given in the book is coming from an expert in graphic design with years of experience. It is an easy read, but even if you just flick through and have a look as some of the work it contains, it is very worthwhile as it really does make you start to think about your work and alternative ways of conveying your ideas that you would not usually think about.</span></span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirOn0ismaMUXGdppFWejs4ezSIhm7hfMWx4YA7-StSC-WPh607FpxCOPJXT4qp2ImFFzpMhH9p9ZuMkbvsGk9Fg-ck4NeaukRnBfKmOfRKo1lGtceKisTDTiB0_MIZ-P2AIEkosC0-wdRW/s320/itsnothowgoodyouare.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5385041153318825682" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 215px; height: 320px; " /></span><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE11hng2_gqQofHyV3XZvotZJMjZy8k93Be9PLAv7oXxLOg-QFVoi_zinIrdy-VgZHctoWcBnaY5BTedVLlAXXz6wIpuFCkwkwy8p-Peet-36jUQG9NIrnoQkQC9PzgkIHYdE40zNxWH0x/s320/259746497_232184019c.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5385041137677900818" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 282px; " /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSHhDU-a9W5s2h-x4yFjAR2RCJhTmcIM2Wszgst13jxp8ZdccRY9VGInU4YZkhJD2QGgLFsPdTvHfusRLUOM0o6vI-vD1xVmnOJ4tGtubUXaGVkIL0RSyG9EIBr0m1xbFRtaeTWSu9zLJk/s320/2673443141_1887d62ac8.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5385041136421280482" /></div>Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7441711054791611841.post-25325182507622509892009-09-19T10:30:00.000-07:002009-09-21T12:58:44.624-07:00Egyptian Souks<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs9_LopLE5j4CRvIokFDpWHQlnTGEZ4afMM5LIEFsPOnRWTPPVy1UDGxyHaDfKzQaby0GsmeFjlGMXThayYAEzxNLGXOJ4vL39OmwC1Vxjw6tKxMI8gsiOpdRClM24dRV3qqQqoOQaCD_k/s1600-h/IMG_0634.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs9_LopLE5j4CRvIokFDpWHQlnTGEZ4afMM5LIEFsPOnRWTPPVy1UDGxyHaDfKzQaby0GsmeFjlGMXThayYAEzxNLGXOJ4vL39OmwC1Vxjw6tKxMI8gsiOpdRClM24dRV3qqQqoOQaCD_k/s320/IMG_0634.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5384008681878185666" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEUWZGxkOP7TbE9lZYtO5YLJMNA9bQivNnrjkvyXmnCfJJHN6dZkD4UnR0RTwPTt4XHlGq67b13Wy10Vy0-L0zNJX3g6xu1oY-z5lT4F-G12d9w8C1i19rDwoQUYjAOtfsAwW4Ktt4xe71/s1600-h/IMG_0632.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEUWZGxkOP7TbE9lZYtO5YLJMNA9bQivNnrjkvyXmnCfJJHN6dZkD4UnR0RTwPTt4XHlGq67b13Wy10Vy0-L0zNJX3g6xu1oY-z5lT4F-G12d9w8C1i19rDwoQUYjAOtfsAwW4Ktt4xe71/s320/IMG_0632.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5384008677953810594" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidVCtJnVvABc7obJiNqu1oT4muANHjoucmy1HCUGP-IOXtAx9VRX8LLJe9SgqgSCyjt5dApCG3U1DAK9KnhqTMmRC_lbB34tiUuHC2pGK8JdSblxbUTJ3hh7Ben3OJ6DXEi1mmpdfW2Ux1/s1600-h/IMG_0624.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidVCtJnVvABc7obJiNqu1oT4muANHjoucmy1HCUGP-IOXtAx9VRX8LLJe9SgqgSCyjt5dApCG3U1DAK9KnhqTMmRC_lbB34tiUuHC2pGK8JdSblxbUTJ3hh7Ben3OJ6DXEi1mmpdfW2Ux1/s320/IMG_0624.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5384008668748339442" /></a><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">I have recently been lucky enough to go to Egypt where I was able to engage in an entirely different culture. I found the country as a whole very exciting; however it was in the Souks (Egyptian markets) where I realised how many treasures the country held. It was like going to an art/textile/interior design exhibition just by walking around the stalls because there was such a vast collection of artefacts and works of art. The atmosphere and the light displays and the bizarre arrangement of buildings and outdoor shops all combined made the market a really awe inspiring place to be. It was nothing like anywhere I have been before; I imagine Morocco to be very similar, and this is somewhere I have always wanted to go.</span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">The market inspired me as it made me think about how different their culture is from our own and how this market that the Egyptian locals see every day may seem so mundane to them, yet looks like such an art piece to somebody like me. It made me think about interior design; especially that of restaurants and bars because I loved the fact that in the market areas in Egypt all the bars and restaurants are mainly outdoors and filled with cushions on the floor for people to sit on. </span></span></p><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); "><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGYCktKTjPNAofUlbIoZANKUyE3qMnNzuVH1dwSt5D_o03FSTd-lnDXivAvDqavvnHeLdMSJ6MKyNRjLxoLlAYNNA8S5ZXdf7kBVd6wdxgspfLJJzS04WzfZ3OclsjyyYzGFL-Q7JomYC9/s1600-h/IMG_0644.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGYCktKTjPNAofUlbIoZANKUyE3qMnNzuVH1dwSt5D_o03FSTd-lnDXivAvDqavvnHeLdMSJ6MKyNRjLxoLlAYNNA8S5ZXdf7kBVd6wdxgspfLJJzS04WzfZ3OclsjyyYzGFL-Q7JomYC9/s320/IMG_0644.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5384011744458048066" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px; " /></a><br /></span><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHO1eNlwyMy-Lojw692YFEpAIfcWb2V4TRtAFHTM0_ZGp1YZA8-wH7jKOn7OedRMAiXlseSq22x3Zwp4oGRuZjDjBQQ1kp-ItZdLfrNZLQlv-fsLsb3xQcZThvUaCewOeEQ43J_aaE2GUN/s320/IMG_0647.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5384011753790345234" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px; " /></span><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:'trebuchet ms';">The textiles and the tilings made me think about our work in design theory and I now know how ornate and difficult to create some of the shapes and patterns really were. </span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:Georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh74fnx8_ab6YWZEgKmfgCWdVjMNiO_e1bAQmRdRIeeJbS5PbpmVFHislUSjrauuzEkvxO3oCLkaCXPDod1dqdPgNUdV6QCx5LydagqCxKyWQPfDbW42bSymEg-NHRkdTa7DAqtCLByzBJN/s320/IMG_0639.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5384011732438820546" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></span><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp_dAHrSH2HfAySl2vhOy5GJqSyefaygkr-rnjiQB3Exh_c9pAmjNktEkvZ4-57KrfZPr7VSl2TmEN0qMFfzsf0aBOEB7hJotnr-I41mdW0eu3_O9hG7-N41K2ER2S2IuLgttubG-wyqSI/s1600-h/IMG_0638.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp_dAHrSH2HfAySl2vhOy5GJqSyefaygkr-rnjiQB3Exh_c9pAmjNktEkvZ4-57KrfZPr7VSl2TmEN0qMFfzsf0aBOEB7hJotnr-I41mdW0eu3_O9hG7-N41K2ER2S2IuLgttubG-wyqSI/s320/IMG_0638.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5384008692733555794" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a></span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:'trebuchet ms';">I was really inspired by the light displays as well, which, I figured, if placed in different circumstances could look really tacky, however, in the markets looked really beautiful and played such a major part in creating an atmosphere. This fantasy film is an adaptation of the Lewis Carroll novels Alice Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. Tim Burton will be using techniques combining live action and motion capture technology to make the film as magical as it needs to be to fully do the book justice; and no doubt the magical and bizarrely constructed wonderland will be something spectacular as the advances in modern technology combined with Tim Burton's imagination means he is able to perfectly create his vision. Clips of the film seen so far show that the set and the makeup and costume lives up to Tim Burton's usual standards and is ultimately original and truly incredible. The film is going to be released in Disney Digital 3D and IMAX 3D as well as 2D to allow the audience to really feel as if they are in this mystical world. This film will be a huge advance in both motion graphics and film and is expected to be a film like nothing ever seen before. The cast includes Mia Wasikowska as Alice, Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter,Anne Hathaway as the White Queen and Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen. The film is to be released in March 2010 and I am already extremely excited about watching it!!</span></span></span></p></div><div><img style="text-align: justify;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; cursor: pointer; width: 214px; height: 320px; " src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG2crG0SaPXluRBqIx2FoMvwSORPq9nR2DpK-tGDcBz0LHsEmLhqb9bAmUxCYvzqTYsVgkyf9zrBSyU1a28N6_4EvBoFdYq0KbnUxKfWc-P9pv2ApYukgeJfBL5NO8R31E0h-OhwIliPE4/s320/tim-burton-alice-in-wonderland-movie-photos-7.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5382872241048615954" /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi23gzkcA3iCUIYb8fB81u93QzC1VahTuAqAi_rHNY9jp7pkXIFhmLT5dBc5TMSsu66AY4JvzAQFRVfHlUcn28HY9RkrUOQHBQB1c54qz_bPo4FAwHEyMJfFQdKRLI_e7i0u-ZfVGDOG3Ik/s1600-h/zz4fbabdc4.jpg" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="text-align: justify;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; cursor: pointer; width: 206px; height: 320px; " src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi23gzkcA3iCUIYb8fB81u93QzC1VahTuAqAi_rHNY9jp7pkXIFhmLT5dBc5TMSsu66AY4JvzAQFRVfHlUcn28HY9RkrUOQHBQB1c54qz_bPo4FAwHEyMJfFQdKRLI_e7i0u-ZfVGDOG3Ik/s320/zz4fbabdc4.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5382872255456158002" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7Vq5vIgGlT-rV3Iop1ySB1EGpVS5X5MGGn385y9-cMlp1QXkYNMtEtcTNh6SdSNnb56QsSxcT3ZP_8LTABTFQ_Nx085dz1zEoyyoNafSIQZiB8u9k2QOcCqm0qPUqgE4q4HSBgWe7OanJ/s1600-h/Alice+In+Wonderland+Tim+Burton.jpg" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="text-align: justify;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7Vq5vIgGlT-rV3Iop1ySB1EGpVS5X5MGGn385y9-cMlp1QXkYNMtEtcTNh6SdSNnb56QsSxcT3ZP_8LTABTFQ_Nx085dz1zEoyyoNafSIQZiB8u9k2QOcCqm0qPUqgE4q4HSBgWe7OanJ/s320/Alice+In+Wonderland+Tim+Burton.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5382872219415202962" /></a></div>Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7441711054791611841.post-25527259633776255992009-09-18T09:54:00.000-07:002009-09-18T10:35:35.283-07:00Liver Building Liverpool<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhobBhFDj_Z4WcUcDAppj9b_FmKqquD2lmIgHB-sk156RaUKxVXWU3OiEXlG-XGEQQ-iwFZdJKoWtUWqplwk4btJYG87y_DP7vM-Xsj9-onfDIWDDn-nfwDZczZR7RKt6Dr5u-v5-3kVCC5/s1600-h/248px-Royal_Liver_Building.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 248px; height: 245px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhobBhFDj_Z4WcUcDAppj9b_FmKqquD2lmIgHB-sk156RaUKxVXWU3OiEXlG-XGEQQ-iwFZdJKoWtUWqplwk4btJYG87y_DP7vM-Xsj9-onfDIWDDn-nfwDZczZR7RKt6Dr5u-v5-3kVCC5/s320/248px-Royal_Liver_Building.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5382861540549655394" /></a><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">I</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"> had never been to Liverpool before this summer and so I decided when I was there I would enjoy being a tourist for a day and tour the city, taking in the city's architectural and cultural features. I was amazed by how much construction work was going on in the city and how up and coming it is architecturally. It was one of the older buildings that the city contains that really stuck in my mind though because i just found it phenomenal; the Liver Building. It is part of the world's most famous waterfronts and is part of Liverpool's three graces that line the cities waterfront. Not only is the actual building a masterpiece, especially considering it was one of the first buildings to be built with reinforced concrete, but the fabled Liver Bird sculptures that are nested on the top are works of art on their own. The building was opened in 1911 and is still to this day one of the most recognisable landmarks in the city of Liverpool. I found it an exciting building because of the way that it incorporates such incredible architecture with art; and this combination of form of the building and sculpture works in creating an inspirational structure.</span></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms', fantasy;"><br /></span></div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEuk0O-hL7IUo6_zImxsOjw3bGn3Q7mzf3DfbESVn0Dhu26SE7951Uwjks6oo5KuhoOeQjKlWMScspfza8ZnJyjpE4_rTIceg7jkfiT9iiCxxkeyiZNNnK4KH7oJk4X5R-ZYg1FC0KzfyZ/s320/450px-Liver_Building_Tower.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5382861534874487490" style="text-align: justify;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px; " /></div>Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7441711054791611841.post-25004369660237222592009-09-18T09:27:00.000-07:002009-09-18T10:35:11.515-07:00Modern Delight<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFgfXuNcZHAj3muusB95hXNOAolrRRSZeAHQQNbScspJNC-QCKXUjVPKtP3_by_ABR10R0cgC8geNAyrXXubzjJNPksTiiNhAXaqaqXSsdGPGhANTFPAKDXwVIwfgwKGk90sooyz7tS53f/s1600-h/9780571251254.jpg"><img style="text-align: justify;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; cursor: pointer; width: 149px; height: 200px; " src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFgfXuNcZHAj3muusB95hXNOAolrRRSZeAHQQNbScspJNC-QCKXUjVPKtP3_by_ABR10R0cgC8geNAyrXXubzjJNPksTiiNhAXaqaqXSsdGPGhANTFPAKDXwVIwfgwKGk90sooyz7tS53f/s320/9780571251254.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5382851600488596946" /></a><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';"><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">I read an article about this book in the Times Magazine and found it very interesting. It is a book that will be sold at Waterstones to raise money for Dyslexia Action and The London Library. The book is a selection of short stories by some of the UK's best loved authors and entertainers about what it is in life that makes them happy, however big or small. Some examples are a piece titled 'The Last Roast Potato' by Nigel Slater and 'Hillrolling' by Dom Jolly. The book was inspired by the 1949 book by J.B Priestley entitled "Delight". I thought the idea for this book was inspirational as it makes you think outside the box about the small things, that may seem very insignificant to some, but that are very important in the life of others. It made me think about different target audiences in advertising projects and what they are interested in, what makes them happy and what their personal delights are. The book was released this week and if you want something easy to read that will make you smile then this is the perfect book and not only that but its for a good cause as well!</span></div></span>Alanna Peachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09186895516145864485noreply@blogger.com0
